Framed abstract textured artwork with muted earthy tones.

Black summer.

I hand dyed thick cotton canvas with logwood and used iron oxide to create the marks. The marks remind me of beaming sunrays. The title of the work is derived from the song ‘Black summer (by RHCP)’ - a track I like to listen to in my studio.

Close-up of textured, aged paper or parchment with faint, irregular markings.
Person kneeling on the floor, wearing blue jeans and a beige shirt, using a long spoon to stir or extract something from a large white pot. There is a jar of nuts or seeds knocked over on the ground, with some spilled out. The background shows a wall with a beige wooden door.
