NINA HAFI abstract artist atelier

After years of experimenting with natural dyes and materials I have refined my work to what it is today. My inspiration comes from time living in Japan, nature, travel and old crafts. While painting I let my intuition guide me. I’m always listening to music, it sets my mood and impacts my work.

I prefer to work with natural materials like wood, seeds and chalk. I find many of my materials in nature and process them into pigments that I dye vintage canvases with. This way each piece is truly unique.

The concept of my work lies in the fact that imperfection is a thing of beauty. We show the perfect side of our lives on social and in pictures and try to hide the cracks from the outside world. Sharing our imperfections makes us more happy and connected.

My own life was damaged a few years ago after receiving the diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer. I felt completely lost but after some time learned that my cracked life can still be a beautiful one.

Creating art is my way to stay mentally well. Living as a palliative ill human being means going through a continuous emotional rollercoaster. Music and art are my anti depressants and true life savers.

My studio is located in the south of the Netherlands, contact me if you would like to visit.
